Chinese I

In Chinese I, the students will acquire an elementary ability to listen, speak, read, and write the Chinese language. Specifically, students will be learning the national standard dialect called Mandarin (the official dialect used for official government work and school instruction in all of China). This course emphasizes the skills needed for useful daily communication, e.g. making friends, expressing ones needs and preferences, seeking and giving directions, etc. Along with learning the language, students will also be introduced to various Chinese culture.
