Course Information

Flight & Space
In this course, you will explore the principles of flight and the expanding field of space exploration through hands-on experiments, research, and engineering challenges. Beginning with the fundamentals of aerodynamics, you will design and test paper gliders, investigate Newton’s laws, analyze forces like lift and drag, and apply navigation skills using maps and topographic features. Building on these foundations, you will conduct in-depth research into propulsion systems and spacecraft design, studying jet versus rocket engines, orbital mechanics, and how satellites operate within Earth’s atmosphere. You will also explore the human aspects of space travel—nutrition, fitness, rest, and wellness—and how astronauts maintain health on missions. Advancing into current and future space technologies, you will examine missions to Mars, analyze real spacecraft data, and engineer lunar and planetary landers. By integrating scientific knowledge with creative problem-solving, you will gain a comprehensive understanding of aviation, space science, and the challenges of sustaining life beyond Earth.
