Launch: How many years have you been a teacher?
Sara Edwards: This is my 17th year in education.

Launch: What’s your favorite thing about teaching for Launch?
I love being able to teach mathematics. I love building relationships with my students and helping them not only feel but also become successful. There isn’t a better feeling for a teacher than when a parent and/or student thanks them for their support throughout the class.

Launch: What do you think differentiates Launch from any other online course provider?
Launch has teachers that view kids as truly “our kids.” We work with our kids and their parents/guardians to help create successful online learners. I have had many parents thank me for calling them, and they even ask if their student could take another one of my courses. It makes me smile, however, I always think, “You would say that to any teacher at Launch, because they would do the same thing for your student.”

Launch: What is your favorite Launch student memory?
I have had parents that I’ve called so often that they recognize my phone number. I have built relationships with my students and know things about them–I can be a part of their lives and do things like wish them good luck at their softball game. I even had a student wish my 7 year old good luck on his baseball game. One student says they wouldn’t have graduated if I hadn’t called them constantly. They allowed me to make a difference in their life. That’s huge.

Launch:  Is there anything else you’d like to add?
Launch is more than an online course provider. It provides Missouri students access to caring Missouri teachers. It allows advanced students to excel and also helps other students catch up. It provides expanded course opportunities to students in smaller districts. I don’t think words could express how excited I am to be a part of this.
