ELD Government
Sheltered Government provides English Language Learners (ELs) comprehensive instruction in government content while building skills in listening, speaking, reading, and writing. Designed for ELs scoring 3 or below on the WIDA Screener or ACCESS, the course integrates prior knowledge of citizenship, history, geography, economics, and government. Students will demonstrate understanding of the U.S. and Missouri Constitutions as required by state statute through readings, discussions, and projects. Writing assignments focus on critical thinking and argumentation.
Prerequisite: U.S. History and World History. Placement verified by ELD Specialist.
