MISSOURI’S PURPOSE-DRIVEN VIRTUAL LEARNING PLATFORM
Launch began partnering with Missouri school districts in summer 2017. As the program grows, it continues to operate with a purpose-driven mission: to provide all Missouri students access to quality virtual learning options, regardless of barriers.
Our BeliefsLAUNCH’S PURPOSE-DRIVEN MISSION STRIVES FROM THREE CORE BELIEFS
A student’s opportunity should not be limited by their zip code.
A caring educator who has a relationship with students is essential in all learning environments.
A collaborative approach to virtual course access solutions is essential for student success.
What is Launch?
Launch is a purpose-driven virtual course access program based in Springfield Public Schools. Launch partners with school districts statewide to offer students access to middle school and high school courses.
All Launch courses are built by Springfield Public Schools curriculum specialists, teachers and digital developers and are aligned to Missouri Learning Standards. Each Launch course is taught by a highly qualified Missouri educator that lives in and works at a Launch partner district.
Launch and MOCAP
Missouri Course Access and Virtual School Program (MOCAP) was established in 2007 as the state’s online school. It was previously known as Missouri Virtual Instruction Program (MOVIP). It allows students to take courses from any Internet-connected computer, available 24-hours a day, seven days a week. MOCAP's mission is to offer Missouri students equal access to a wide range of high-quality courses and interactive online learning that is neither time nor place dependent.
Local school districts and charter schools may choose a preferred online provider. Launch is operated and overseen by Springfield Public Schools, and it is the preferred online provider for hundreds of districts statewide. Launch currently offers more than 180 courses with full programming available for students in grades 6-12. All Launch courses are designed by Missouri teachers and aligned to Missouri Learning Standards, and a formal review process is built into the Launch course development process to ensure high quality and rigor. Students wishing to take advantage of online learning opportunities may do so through Launch and may enroll at their home building.
