ELD Health
Sheltered Health provides English Language Learners (ELs) with comprehensive instruction in health education while developing English language skills in listening, speaking, reading, and writing. Designed for ELs scoring 3 or below on the WIDA Screener or ACCESS, this course helps students build functional health knowledge to make informed, health-promoting decisions. Instruction emphasizes concepts and skills related to nutrition, goal-setting, decision-making, communication, mental health, accessing reliable resources, health-enhancing behaviors, and advocacy. This course fulfills the one-half unit health requirement for graduation. Prerequisite: Placement verified by ELD Specialist.
