Launch Missouri's Workforce FAQs
Launch Missouri’s Workforce includes a collection of career-focused virtual education pathways that offer students virtual courses in 11 Missouri career industries and allow students to graduate with industry-recognized certifications and credentials
Launch Missouri’s Workforce courses are available to all high school students in the state of Missouri.
SPS students are approved to take Launch Missouri's Workforce courses for CTE credit. A decision is pending from DESE for approval of CTE credit for other participating districts. All students are eligible for practical art or other applicable subject credit.
Launch Missouri’s Workforce Pathways are the career industries in which students can study to learn industry skills and earn industry-recognized certifications and credentials. These pathways include: Agribusiness; Bio-Sciences; Construction; Education; Energy; Financial & Professional Services; Health Science; Hospitality & Food Service; Information Technology; Manufacturing and Transportation & Logistics. Launch began offering Launch Missouri’s Workforce courses in four pathways in Fall 2022 (Education, Financial & Professional Services, Hospitality & Food Service, Information Technology). Additional pathways and courses were added for Fall 2023, and courses will continue to be developed and offered over the next two years. Agricultural Science I-Agribusiness Emphasis; Marketing II; Teaching as a Profession II; Hospitality and Tourism Management II; PLTW Introduction to Engineering; PLTW Computer Science Essentials; PLTW Computer Science Principles and PLTW Principles of Biomedical Science.
Current CTE eligible LMW courses include: Agricultural Science I-Agribusiness; PLTW Computer Science Essentials; PLTW AP Computer Science Principles and AP Computer Science A. All other courses were pending DESE approval at press time (August 10, 2023).
Yes, Launch offers the following CTSOs: Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA); Distributive Education Clubs of America* (DECA); Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA)*; Future Farmers of America (FFA); Technology Student Association (TSA); and Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA)*.

Launch partner district counselors can enroll students in Launch Missouri’s Workforce courses by following the standard Launch enrollment process in Launchpad and selecting “Launch Missouri’s Workforce” under course enrollment. Counselors at non-partner Launch school districts should email Mary Edgerton at [email protected] for enrollment directions.
All parents interested in enrolling their child(ren) in Launch Missouri’s Workforce courses should contact their home school district counselor.
Launch Missouri’s Workforce courses are available at no charge for families. Through a partnership with the Missouri Department of Higher Education & Workforce Development, a select number of students will be able to enroll in Launch Missouri’s Workforce courses at no charge. Additional courses will be charged at the current rate of Launch tuition.
Launch Missouri’s Workforce has four main goals: Ensuring a student’s opportunity is not limited by their zip code; exposing students to career paths and opportunities; connecting students with industry experts and helping students find success in their postsecondary lives via workforce industry certifications and credentials. While these courses will be open to all high school students in the state of Missouri, we are excited to provide career-focused virtual education courses in communities where options may be limited.
In addition to learning valuable skills, students will be able to earn industry-recognized certifications and credentials in 11 Workforce Pathway industries: Agribusiness; Bio-Sciences; Construction; Education; Energy; Financial & Professional Services; Health Science; Hospitality & Food Service; Information Technology; Manufacturing and Transportation & Logistics.
